Kristi Durbin, CSA Manager
About me: I have roots in Birmingham, Alabama, grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania (go Birds), then came to Kentucky. I spent two years living abroad in Belarus, and speak (rusty) Russian. I am married to Trevor and we have a middle school aged daughter and an elementary school aged son. We also have a yellow lab mix named Luna Lovegood.
Words my co-workers use to describe me: committed, diligent, empathic, knowledgeable, passionate
Hobbies: Reading, going to live music shows, hiking/biking with my kids, traveling, finding excuses to enjoy bourbon, wine, and good cheese with friends
Favorite book: The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Favorite food / veggie: Chai Pani Indian street food or Sahara Mediterranean / Brussels Sprouts
Favorite piece of farm equipment / tool: The CSA custom stale seed bed implement. It's an amazing tool and our entire system relies on it; it was also custom built at our farm and is a tool we share with other growers more than any other.
Best piece of advice for a CSA member: Try throwing some veggies in the freezer if you can't use them quickly; I freeze broccoli, corn on the cob, chopped/shredded summer squash, and tomatoes all the time. You can freeze tomatoes whole on a cookie sheet and then bag after frozen, then throw in soups later or make a sauce down-the-road.
Bethany Warner, CSA Production Systems Manager
About me: I am first and foremost a mother of two incredible kids (14 and 8). I transplanted to Kentucky in 2019, born in Minnesota and a lover of the wild north shore of Lake Superior. I am a borderline crazy cat lady with three cats, but time will tell if I teeter completely off that edge. I have been a farmer by trade since 2020 and a volunteer at various farms since 2017. I fell in love with farming the land and working with wonderful folks at UK CSA. I have been so privileged to learn and grow into my position.
Words my co-workers use to describe me: affable, creative, grounding, kind, warm
Hobbies: I am a jill-of-all-trades when it comes to creative arts: painting, stained glass, pottery, pyrography, poetry and singing! I also am an outdoor lover (if my occupation didn't give you an idea) and am passionate about hiking, camping, and foraging.
Favorite book / movie: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer / The Fountain (however, I recently saw Hamnet and that may be tied).
Favorite food / veggie: My last meal: Street tacos / Garlic
Favorite piece of farm equipment / tool: The waterwheel — it was the first implement I got to transplant with (onions) when I first volunteered at South Farm, therefore it will always be sentimental (especially since it is a muddy endeavor).
Best piece of advice for a CSA member: Talk to the farmers when you pick up your veggies! We are always so excited to answer questions and get to know you. I also suggest reading the blog to keep up to date on our shenanigans and get recipe ideas, usually suggested by the crew!
Neil Wilson, Horticulture Research Technician
About me: I'm from Louisville, live with my wife and dog Swift and new baby on the way.
Words my co-workers use to describe me: jack-of-all-trades, meticulous, patient, reliable, visionary
Hobbies: Ceramics, walking my dog, perpetually repairing our house
Favorite book: Enchiridion by Epictetus
Favorite veggie: Lacinato Kale
Favorite piece of farm equipment / tool: Kress KULT Fingerweeder
Best piece of advice for a CSA member: Enjoy some items from the U-pick field, it's a great benefit

Viktor Halmos, Horticulture Research Technician
About me: I am married to a fellow, garden/veggie/nature loving hobbit wife with two cats, a snake, and a tarantula.
Words my co-workers use to describe me: dependable, diligent, eager, honest, visionary
Hobbies: All things outdoors! Hiking, birding, herping, backpacking, camping, etc.
Favorite book / movie: A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold / The Revenant
Favorite food / veggie: No favorite food since I love too many things and I am always trying new things! / No favorite veggies since I love all veggies, but I seem to always have an affinity for carrots, peppers, potatoes, and garlic.
Favorite piece of farm equipment / tool: Scuffle hoe, MaterMacc vacuum seeder
Best piece of advice for a CSA member: Never be afraid of trying something new! A new door open can lead to a whole new adventure. Try that weird veggie and never look back.

Evan Brock, CSA Farm Tech
About me: I am from right here in Lexington, Kentucky, where I have lived my whole life, except for four years in Chicago.
Words my co-workers use to describe me: careful, curious, meek, open-minded, perceptive
Hobbies: Playing/performing blues music, fishing, hiking, and whittling.
Favorite book: Clay’s Quilt by Silas House
Favorite veggie: Peppers — I love how varied their looks and flavors can be, and how the same individual pepper can taste so different depending on what color/ripeness it is harvested at - and they have some of the most vibrant and beautiful colors you’ll see on a farm.
Favorite piece of farm equipment / tool: The Finger Weeder is my favorite, because I like the teamwork and precision of having a tractor operator as well as someone “driving” the implement behind, to micromanage its steering and line it up precisely with the crop rows.
Best piece of advice for a CSA member: Try to make the trip out and pick up your produce on the farm at least once, to see the place your food came from, as well as to take advantage of the You-Pick!

Emma Greenberg, CSA Farm Tech
About me: I’m from St. Louis originally and have been here about 5 years. I live with my roommates and my dog, Teller.
Words my co-workers use to describe me: cheerful, conscientious, helpful, integrity, serene
Hobbies: I love crafting, especially sewing
Favorite book: A Song for You and I by K. O'Neill
Favorite veggie: Tomatoes might be my favorite
Favorite piece of farm equipment / tool: The mechanical transplanter is probably my favorite. I usually find planting a very satisfying task and using the transplanter can make it fast work.
Best piece of advice for a CSA member: I’ve gotten so much good cooking knowledge from this community! So I’d recommend asking around and taking recipe recommendations especially for vegetables you aren’t very familiar with.
