Farm Happenings
Welcome to the first week of the fall CSA! Just a reminder that we will continue to have a farm stand on Thursdays (Campus only!) at the same time as distribution (4-6PM). Even if you don’t join the fall CSA you can still purchase our veggies then.
Note from an Apprentice
Hi! My name is Rebecca Hamilton, and I am an Agriculture Ecosystem Sciences student at the University of Kentucky. Along with my degree, I am also earning a certification in distillation, wine, and brewing. I grew up in Springfield, Kentucky, where my family raised cattle, and I graduated from Bethlehem High School in 2022.
Agriculture truly impacts everyone—it’s the reason we have food on our tables and clothes on our backs. My time at South Farm has made me appreciate that more than ever. Working out in the fields has taught me things I could never fully understand from a classroom alone. I’ve learned how much care and decision-making goes into every part of farming, from managing crops and soil to running equipment. It’s been an eye-opening experience that’s helped me connect what I learn in class to real life. More than anything, it’s made me proud to be part of something so important and given me real appreciation for the hard work behind agriculture.
I’m not entirely sure what my path after college will look like, but I’m excited to find out! I am so grateful to my mentors at South Farm for helping me grow both my skills and my confidence in everyday agricultural practices. This experience has truly been amazing, and I couldn’t be more thankful!
